ABSTRACT:
BACKGROUND:
European Union
By late 2017, the European Union parliament issued a law on environment protection. The law established a threshold supported with a number. Environment protection industry that produce byproducts that are harmful to the environment below the threshold can operate. Industry operators that produce harmful byproducts above the threshold cannot operate.
Benin Republic
By early 2018, in a telivized announcement, an expert of the Benin Environment Regulation Agency issues a decision to exclude from sale biodegradable organic materials that contain nonbiodegradable materials. The Benin republic expert did not set a threshold of contamination, nor a number to guide decision making process.
Biotech tropicana Systems/African Union:
Using the guidelines of the High Level African Panel On Modern Biotechnology, the Biotech Tropicana Systems established a product evaluation protocol , applying scientific methods. Where available the Biotech tropicana Systems will comply with laws of the county targeted for marketing and sale of its environment products. Where not availablr, the Biotech tropicana Systems will apply its internal proprietary protocols that rae consistent with international standards.
METHODS:
We compare the methods used by the European Union, and Benin republic with the methods used by the Biotech tropicana Systems.
RESULTS:
We found that the decision of the European Union parliament is derived from application of the scientific method in collaboration with a scientific advisory panel. The methods applied by Benin republic are not consistent with the scientific methods.
DISCUSSION:
The decision of the Benin republic environment protection expert is in conflict with the decision of the parliament of the European Union. We agree in principle with the European Union that both the environment and the environment protection industry need to be protected. Yet, we must specify that the European Union is a partner of Benin republic and a partner of the African Union System, but not a partner of the Biotech tropicana Systems; a private for profit biotech corporation.
CONCLUSION:
We conclude that the decision of the Benin republic environment expert issued in conflict with the scientific methods is not eligible for application on environment products derived from application of the scientific methods. Even where the European Union is not a partner of the Biotech tropicana Systems, we agree in principle with the European Union that both the environment and the environment protection industry need to be protected.
