Mobile laboratory systems are designed for field applications in remote areas. The solar energy powered Moon Rover was developed by the US NASA for exploration of the surface of the moon in the late 1960s and applied in the early 1970s by NASA astronauts as a lunar vehicle. Since then numerous mobile laboratory systems were developed and adapted to various applications in remote areas on planet earth. The Biotech tropicana Systems designed the “Mobile Life Box” for health applications in remote areas. Three advanced prototypes of the “Mobile Life Box” are currently under development in the Biotech tropicana Systems: Negro Home Visitor, Negro Offspring, and the Negro Patriot. A demo version, the Negro Light is under development in the Biotech tropicana Systems for display at the Biotech tropicana,IncMUSEUM. Drosophila melanogaster is a model organism used to demonstrate numerous principles in the field of Genetics. Biotech tropicana,IncEDUCATIONAL designed a laboratory program adapted to the conditions of the resource poor settings that uses the model organism Drosophila melanogaster, as part of its Genetics program, DROME. The DROME program is designed for application as an immobile laboratory for educational purpose. Negro melanogaster provides mobility to the DROME system by placing it in a motor vehicle. Negro melanogaster was designed according to the same principle that placed the immobile SMARThivPACK into a motor vehicle to create the “Mobile Life Box”. Negro melanogaster is a mobile educational designed to make laboratory training available to trainees in remote areas while saving on investment in laboratory infrastructure for the resource poor settings.
